Team of the UNDOK drop-in center
Since 2014, the UNDOK drop-in center has been supporting and advising migrants who are working undocumented in Austria – especially people from non-EU countries without valid residence or work permits.
Wage fraud, excessive working hours, non-compliance with safety standards and dismissal in the event of accidents, for example, are among the most common problems. Despite equality under labor law, it is much more difficult for undocumented workers to assert their rights. Their situation is exacerbated by, for example, residence risks and institutional racism.
At UNDOK, migrant colleagues can obtain low-threshold information about their rights – anonymously, free of charge and in various languages. As an independent association, UNDOK does not work with immigration authorities or employers.
In addition to counselling, the drop-in center also carries out public relations work and advocates for undocumented workers with interest groups and in the field of politics. Educational work and community work in the analogue and digital space is also carried out.

UNDOK association
Anyone in paid employment in Austria has rights as an employee. These rights apply equally to everyone, regardless of their origin and residence status. However, undocumented workers – especially nationals from third countries – face particularly high hurdles when trying to assert their rights. Overcoming them requires the knowledge and support of various parties.
For this reason, various players in the UNDOK association have joined forces to form an alliance: migrant self-organizations, trade unions, anti-racist NGOs, victim protection organizations and activists (see below for a list of UNDOK association members).
The aim of the association is to draw attention to and improve the situation of undocumented workers. The UNDOK association is organized as an independent association and is responsible for the UNDOK drop-in center.
